🏆 AAA Adventures
1. Asgard's Wrath 2 — If there's one game that proves the Quest 3 can run AAA experiences, this is it. Developed by Sanzaru Games and published by Oculus Studios, it launched on December 15, 2023 as a Quest 3 launch title. An action RPG inspired by Egyptian and Norse mythology, featuring an open world, skill trees, followers, and over 100 hours of gameplay. Metacritic 87/100, IGN 10/10 — “sets a new gold standard for VR.” D.I.C.E. Immersive Reality Game of the Year 2024.
2. Batman: Arkham Shadow — Camouflaj (Iron Man VR) crafted arguably the best superhero VR game ever made. Released in October 2024 as a Quest 3 exclusive, it won the Game Awards 2024 Best VR/AR Game. Metacritic 85/100, with melee combat, stealth, predator rooms, and Gotham City exploration set in the 1980s. A true Arkham experience in VR.
3. Assassin's Creed Nexus VR — Ubisoft brought three iconic characters (Ezio, Connor, Kassandra) to VR first-person action in November 2023. Stealth assassinations, parkour, sword combat — and historical locations spanning Italy, the American Revolution, and Ancient Greece. A genuine Assassin's Creed on a standalone headset.
🧟 Horror & Survival
4. Resident Evil 4 VR — Armature Studio ported the legendary 2005 RE4 into first-person VR exclusively for Quest (October 2021). Leon Kennedy hunts infected villagers in Spain, with manual reloading, physical aiming, and terrifying immersion. One of the first “you-need-to-buy-a-VR-headset” games.
5. The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners — A survival horror RPG from Skydance Interactive set in post-apocalyptic New Orleans. Crafting, physics-based melee combat, moral choices, and a breathtaking atmosphere. One of the most complete VR games, with Chapter 2: Retribution as its sequel.
6. Metro Awakening — Vertigo Games released this prequel to the Metro 2033 universe in October 2024. Survival horror in the tunnels of Moscow, resource management, stealth against mutants, and atmospheric storytelling that does justice to Dmitry Glukhovsky's novels.
7. Alien: Rogue Incursion — Survios (Raw Data) released the first AAA Alien VR game in November 2024. FPS horror on an abandoned space station, with a motion tracker, xenomorphs, facehuggers, and the atmosphere of the original film. Quest 3 exclusive — don't rush to play it in the dark.
Horror Games Tip
VR horror games on Quest 3 are FAR scarier than flat-screen gaming. The headset fully immerses you in the world — you can't look away. If you're new to VR horror, start with Metro Awakening before trying Alien.
⚔️ Action & Combat
8. Superhot VR — “Time only moves when you move.” This mechanic made Superhot VR one of the most iconic VR games ever. Developed by the Superhot Team (Poland), it won the D.I.C.E. Immersive Reality Game of the Year. Minimalistic white-red-black aesthetics, bullet dodging in slow motion, Matrix vibes — an instant classic.
9. Blade & Sorcery: Nomad — A physics-based combat sandbox by WarpFrog. Swords, axes, magic in fantasy arenas with realistic physics — slash, push, throw everything. The Quest version (Nomad) runs standalone with decent graphics and mod support via Nexus Mods.
10. Skydance's Behemoth — Skydance Interactive (Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners) released this action RPG in November 2024 featuring giant bosses, grappling hook traversal, and a Dark Souls-inspired combat system in VR. Impressive scale — you literally climb on top of Behemoths.
11. BONELAB — Stress Level Zero (Boneworks) released this physics sandbox shooter in September 2022. Avatar switching, experimental campaigns, a thriving modding community, and realistic body physics. Not for everyone — but if you love emergent gameplay, it's worth it.
🎵 Rhythm & Fitness
12. Beat Saber — The world's No.1 VR game, by Beat Games (acquired by Meta in 2019). Metacritic 93/100 on PC. Slash blocks to the beat of the music with lightsabers — OST, Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Linkin Park music packs. Over 100 million songs played. If you buy ONE VR game, make it this one.
13. Synth Riders — The Beat Saber alternative, by Kluge Interactive. Instead of swords, you “catch” notes approaching on neon rail tracks. More dance-oriented, more fluid, with excellent electronic music packs (Muse, The Offspring). Custom songs supported.
14. Pistol Whip — A rhythm + FPS hybrid by Cloudhead Games. Shoot enemies to the beat of the music like an action movie scene, John Wick style. Cinematic levels, leaderboards, workout mode — one of the sweatiest VR games out there.
"Beat Saber sets a new gold standard for rhythm gaming. It's the Tetris of VR — it just works."
🧩 Puzzle & Adventure
15. Moss: Book II — Polyarc created a warm, magical puzzle-platformer from a third-person perspective. Help Quill (a tiny mouse) explore breathtaking miniature worlds. Start with the first Moss if you want the full story.
16. I Expect You to Die 3: Cog in the Machine — A puzzle/escape room spy thriller by Schell Games. As a secret agent, solve elaborate puzzles in cars, planes, submarines. The third installment (2024) adds co-op multiplayer — a first for the series.
17. Red Matter 2 — A puzzle adventure by Vertical Robot (August 2022) set in a Cold War-era sci-fi setting. Stunning graphics for Quest standalone — ray tracing-like reflections, atmospheric environments, brain-teasing puzzles. A visual showcase for the hardware.
🌍 Multiplayer & Social
18. Gorilla Tag — Free. 10 million players. $100 million in revenue. Kerestell “Lemming” Smith created a multiplayer game where legless gorillas chase each other using only their hands. No joystick, no menu, no tutorial — but with addictive physics-based locomotion. The Generation Alpha phenomenon.
19. Population: One — VR battle royale by BigBox VR. 18 players, building, climbing, flying, shooting — Fortnite meets VR. Massive community, continuous updates, competitive scene. Free-to-play since 2022.
20. Eleven Table Tennis — The most realistic sports simulation in VR. A physics engine that faithfully reproduces spin, speed, and trajectory. Online ranked multiplayer, AI opponents, custom paddles. Table tennis in your living room — no table needed.
